Venice Drawings - the much anticipated book by Desmond Freeman

Desmond Freeman Venice - Impressions in Ink was launched by Luca Belgiorno-Nettis AM on 8 July 2016 and is now available for purchase on this site.

There are two hardbound editions of this coffee table book each of 88 pages.

The standard edition book has a decorative dust jacket and endpapers featuring a reproduction of a 15th century Venetian fabric. 2000 copies of this book have been printed. There are two, dramatic 8 page gatefolds featuring the two largest works in the Venice Collection. (ISBN 9780994558404)

The deluxe edition book is essentially the same book as above but in a presentation slipcase upholstered in a printed linen finish book-covering displaying a design inspired by a 15th century Venetian fabric pattern. Each copy has been signed by the artist and has a sequential number on the back page. The deluxe edition is accompanied by a 280x280mm signed and numbered limited edition print from the ‘Desmond Freeman – Venice’ collection. The deluxe edition is limited to 200 copies.  (ISBN 9780994558411)

The content of the books is principally the ‘Desmond Freeman – Venice’ Collection of more than 50 captioned, black and white and full-coloured sketches of the architecture of Venice accompanied by quotations from well-known authors, poets and artists. The preface describes the story of how the book came into being, and was developed in addition to information about the artwork methodology. A set of thumbnail illustrations of each of the 50 or so full artworks has been included at the back of the book in the form of an index.
